A sweet and swoony contemporary Young Adult novel about a cross-country family road trip that puts one girl and her childhood best friend on an unexpected road to romance!
Norah hasn’t seen her childhood best friend, Skyler, in years. When he first moved away, they'd talk all the time, but lately their relationship has been reduced to liking each other’s Instagram posts. That’s why Norah can’t wait for the joint RV road trip their families have planned for the summer.
But when Skyler finally arrives, he seems...like he’d rather be anywhere else. Hurt and confused, Norah reacts in kind. Suddenly, her oldest friendship is on the rocks.
An unexpected summer spent driving across the country leads both Norah and Skyler down new roads and to new discoveries. Before long, they are, once again, seeing each other in a different light. Can their friendship-turned-rivalry turn into something more?

Kasie West is the queen at Ya Romance, and today with Place's We've Never Been, she is keeping her crown. The video game theme of this one had me in, and I loved every single second of it. Norah and Skyler were BFFs during their childhood, and he is the person who taught Norah how to draw. After he moved away, the two lost track to the point where Skyle was rude and ignored her. Their families decided to take an RV summer road trip together. Skyler wants nothing to do with Norah, but the stubborn video game-loving gal will not go down without a fight. It has everything a great summer YA novel needs. The only reason it is not a 5 star read for me is the number of italics used in this. It's just super difficult to read, and I wish authors and publishers would try to avoid it. It takes the enjoyment out of reading when I must stop every other page and struggle to read the front. I suggest my dyslexic friends pick up the audiobook of this one. You won't regret it.
I had the pleasure of creating what I believe is the most epic road trip playlist of all times and that can be found below.
Thank you to Netgalley, Delacorte Press, TBR and Beyond Tours for the advance reader copy of Places Never Been in exchange for my honest review.
